Hi Skaters,
Both the eliminations were roughouse affairs, as the cry for be like the Worlds & reduce to 2 per nation, so the Nations with 3 strong ones stop the cheating. Latetia Le Bihan, the beneficwey of some shonkey blocking tactics yesterday, had to do the disruption Job today, for her teamate to win, referee Barbara fisher tossed Le Bihan out & a number of others who had 3 marks against them. Then we had a skater trying to create reasons why he didnot win, I hope he convinced the coach more than me. Bill |

Hi Skaters,
Florian Le Fevre took on Wouter Hebrecht & made him go to the well twice, which was a tough call, for Wouter in the 500 final against the 3 French Sprinters, Florian's efforts were more noticable than many other sprint stars, with the Italian men Disappointing. Swiss skater Roman Christen 13th in the 300 T/T & 10th in the 1,000, got a step nearer the top sprinters with 6th, in the 500 meters A few lucky medals dished out tonight, the Italian men looked likely for the silver, after the French had cleared away & spanked everyone elses Butts, the Italians crashed in the change area & that was the end of their night & should have signalled a restart for the relay, but other skaters had to avoid the fallen warriar & the race went on. The Spanish persisted on changing on the outside, passed two teams per lap & then let them get back on the inside of them, which for sure cost them amedal. In the ladies relay Spain came to grief & in a luckless night for Germany, they crashed out at the bottom corner, when looking good for silver & Jana Gegner finally finding some form. Bill |

first up, a huge congrats to roman! his sprints have been improving all the time and i think its only a matter of time till we see him in the final....but on
another point, are my eyes deceiving me? where are the rest of the swiss mens team??? in looking at the results it seems they didn't even line up in
anything over 1km....does anyone know the reasons for this? with a home world champs next year i thought they'd be getting amongst europes best on the
track to prepare.

Bill had some pre- notice of the approaching French senior men Hurricane and strongly opposes as many others the Euros 3 in final rule so best bet is that he protected the Swiss skaters against them self and the stress that comes with all that as Bill calls it blatant cheating and might be gambling on the road portion with a bunch of frech skaters ready to settle the score

i doubt the swiss non starters was anything to do with numbers allowed per team, as the swiss grow up with marathon racing in the WIC and SIC where teams have
5 (and others 10) and the situation will not be much different on the road. my assumption is that they want to keep themselves fresh for the road and marathon
races where they may feel they have a better chance, but as this was just an assumption i asked if anyone knew the real reason. i am in no way trying to
detract from the swiss team, more the opposite, i want to see them skate up to the potential on a world level that i know they have, thats why i am concerned
about skipping the track events.
Roman proved its definitely possible, and the fact he did it alone makes it even more special...not forgetting he had a bad run of injuries this season as well. |
