When will Gross Gerau, 3 pistes, etc will be amongst the WIC ranking points, since for the teams they are big events. The WIC does'nt only have to be about
marathons...only inline speed skating.

Hi Bill
The WIC website says that the spanish race is in Pamplona, not in Barcelona. Barcelona is in the south east of Spain while Pamplona is on the north east. That's a big difference, so don't book flights to Barcelona. Greets Urs |

Then maybe after inline gets accepted next fall, Grauss Gerau, 3 pistes and other non-marathon events could assemble a word cup of standart races and have
countries attend at least one of them to pre-qualify with certain times for word championships.
Now that the FIRS has said witch distances would be olympic(less than at worlds I think?), why not keep them only at world championships? |

Hi Roli,
We would hardly have a race at Worlds, Cycling has World championship events, that are not on the resrticted Olympic Program, but to get into the Olympics there are certain restrictions we have to accept, if we do & its less numbers & less events. Cheers Bill |

Hi Skaters,
News letter number 3 from Iguana re WIC 2009,in Version of English translation. Translation: German » English Zürich, 01. Hi Skaters,
Nicole Begg got underway in Europe competing in some races that counted to the French National selection. After a very Testing trip to Bourdeax, when a 3 1/2 hour train trip from Paris nearly turnt into 6 hrs, when the train broke down & another sent out to meet them. Having to drag 50 kg of luggage for a km along a rail track, was not a good introduction to France. In the races Nicole won the 10 km points, 500 & 10 km Elemination & was 4th in the 200 T/T. Kelly Martinez & Alexandra Vivas, will not race in the Berlin GIC as planned & will stay in Colombia an exta 2 weeks to compete in an International event in CALI & WILL NOW MISS THE 3 PISTES. Bill |

Write up on French site re Nicole in France, translated from French.
Nicole Begg is a lesson to SAMérignac Yesterday evening, the drive roller Mérignac RS occurred in a climate of New Zealand. Indeed, Nicole Begg, several times world champion and currently probably the best skater in the world, trains at CREPS to prepare for Track 3. His girlfriend coachette LeBihan Laetitia was invited to give some advice supported demos. Nicole has proposed some technical exercises, skating elbow on the knee, work on the transition edge and transfer of body weight, tips for the role and position of the arms for the sprint, energy saving "skating like a butterfly "(skate like a butterfly). And during the demonstrations, Mérignac skaters were amazed by the perfection of gestures, fluidity, and speed achieved in the acceleration and of course all under the spell of this friendly and beautiful skater. While the skaters have already received lessons from their coaches successive Julien Despaux, Laetitia Le Bihan, Fabien Hascoet, and the fundamentals of skating are the same, but what grace, "what a beautiful butterfly! A big thank you to Nicole Begg who just found his first fan club in France. |

Hi Skaters,
Lets hope the weather turns out right for the next 3 days for the 3 Pistes event. Sure to be a top event & some real high profile skaters attending, first person I bumped into was the great coach Mark Muse, who Guided brothers Dante & Toney to many world titles, he had a nine year old next champ off the block there. Well the legend himself JL Larson was the next to lock horns with, with the legendary 26 sec 300 T/T 40 year old Yank, I was peeping around the corner, to see if Big Daddy Tony Muse was not in the USA World Tour group, Joe the organizational man & Jay Ingram there as well, it was all happening. Well with Nicole in France with the French Camp not due till tomorrow, it was left to Tamara & two of the Bont Enduro boys Wayne & young Livio Wenger to try out the 3 new Bont Wheels, newly added to the bag. With a slim & Trim looking Cecilia & another well performed Colombian Rommy Munoz present, its bound to be a real scorcher of a big opening season event. Last years winner Sabine Berg a well performed track skater & now senior world medalist, will have her hands full containing two of the worlds best ( Cecelia no longer with Bont ) & Nicole, who not only were 1st & 2nd in last years World Inline Cup, but also Cecilia 2006 & Nicole 2007 & 2008 were the overall track World champions, Nicole's Forte the points race, does not appear to be programmed. Hi Skaters,
We wake this morning to a damp wet morning at Pibrac & the forcast not good for the 3 Pistes, apparently the next two days have road venues , if the weather turns sour, but not so Pibrac. Apparently you draw a number in the long race, on the track around 170 meters, with 46 women over 3,000 you can imagine the job ahead of you, if you draw the back Line & you have a strong team lucky enough to get some front row marbles. Well lets hope we get to see it & decent weather prevails. Bill |

Alas the worst dream has come true, rain all day at Pibrac, no Bank track races & no Substitue road, so one day lost, 12 hours of travelling for us.,
Colombian & USA skaters flying over specially for the race meet, at least the next two days will utilize the road circuits at A Aalence d' Agen on
Saturday & Gyjan Mestras on Sunday, if its too wet for the track.
Both these venues have been used fopr previous World Championships, we just want to see races on them. Cheers Bill |

Begg & Llorens take 1 & 2 at Rennes WIC.
|
Hi Skaters,
In the rain effected Rennes WIC race, Bont Wheels team ran 1 & 2, after featuring in the event many times, Nicole has finally one it, unfortunately it was a weakened field, due to the clash with Gross Gera, Nicole won 3 of the 4 primes & 2nd in the other, while Tamara won one & was 2nd in the other 3. Unfortunately Alexandra Vivas was disqualified, over an incident with Natathlie Barbotin, at first the referees decided to read the rule book, in a manner never ever been shown at Worlds or WIC & decided to disqualify Alexandra but also relegate Nicole & Tamara to 2nd & 3rd & elevate 3rd to 1st. A protest from Bont Management was put in & fortunately in the end the original decision was reversed & common sense prevailed, as it was not a serious infringement & the winner was for 350 meters in the lead & clear of others and any benefits. Report from Cheryl.
Well the race had 64 girls racing. It was 32 laps alongside a canal so they went over a bridge at each end. It was a flat bridge. The course was flat and pretty rough none of it was smooth. We think it was about 800m per lap. You would have really enjoyed watching this race and the Dai Davis even said that you would have enjoyed it as the pace was on and there were plenty of breakaways. The girls were either in the breakaways or had them covered. At one stage Nicole and Kelly were away and Liana chased for about 3 laps. The race broke into 2 packs with about 22 in the main group and the rest scattered or in another big group. Nicole and Kelly did alot of work either in breakaways or chasing. They both looked really strong. Nicole was racing on her 110 skates and looked comfortable. She had on whites front and back and mint in the middle. Kelly had on the same wheels as Nicole. Tamara had on all mint wheels and Alex just had 1 white on one skate on the front All of the girls worked really well as a team and were communicating thru out the race. Towards the end with about 3 laps to go someone went for a breakaway and Alex chased it down so that Nicole and Kelly could have a rest. With 1 lap to go Tamara came to the front then Nicole, Kelly and Alex. With about 250m to go just before they turnt the corner to go over the bridge Nicole passed Tamar'a Leadout, and skated really strong to the finish, with Kelly next. The girls really skated well as a team. And when it was finished they were all really happy, with the outcome.a very good win for Bont in Holland. 1/ Nicole Begg Bont Wheels - New Zealand. 2/ Kelly Martinez Bont Wheels - Colombia 3/ Bridgette Mendez - Colombia. 4/Bianca Rosenbloom - Holland 5/ Alexandra Vivas Bont - Wheels Colombia. 6/ Liana Holguin - Colombia 7/ Elma De Vries - Holland. 8/ Tamara Llorens Bont Wheels - Argentina. 9/ Sarah Bak - Denmark. 10/ Latetia Le Bihan - France Bill |

Hi Skaters,
After a very successfull start to the 2009 season, with a split team Situation, while racing in Colombia, France, Germany & Holland, the Bont Girls were expected to have there full team on Deck for the 10 hour drive accross France to Pays de Bray FIC venue, but the unfortunate Nicole Begg will be missing due to Injury after winning the first two events in Nimes & Rennes. This is the first time this Venue has been used and with Tamara Llorens locked 2nd equal on points with Nathalie Barbotin, the battle will be on for the lead in the FIC series. After receiving a tough D.Q. call in Rennes, compared to previous WIC actions Alexandra Vivas will be smarting from this & expect a big race from her, with Kelly Martinez will be having her first FIC race of the season, after recording track wins in Cali, Gross Gera & Heerde. The Much awaited SIC gets underway the next weekend, with a full on 10 event series. Bill |

One that got away & one Bonus.
|
Hi Skaters,
Usually 2nd, 3rd & 4th at times, would be considered a reasonable result, but to have 3 lead the race most the way, without attacking the strong Sara Bak from Denmark, was either a case of overconfidence, or underestimating Baks ability, specially after management had advised them to be carefull. At times Sara has shown good form at Europeans & very little at Worlds, so from those outside of Europe, does not have a high reputation & would not be closely watched. So a good win to Sara over Tamara, with Kelly & Alex 3rd & 4th. with the absence of Nathalie Barbotin Tamara Llorens now leads the FIC with two 2nds & 1 3rd placing from previous leader Nicole Begg. But a great result for the Ageless Argentina skater & former sub World Champion ,Guillermo Trinaroli Bont Enduro 3rd in the mens race, there was a 4 men Breakaway, with Yann Gyader winning from teamate Ewen Fernandez. Guyader tops the table in the Mens FIC competition.. Bill |
