Hi Daniel and Bill, From Eusoffe Chua the Malaysian Organizor.
The registration form for AIC Malaysia is up on our website, at this link: http://www.skateline.com.my/images/form_aic2009.jpg You can direct skaters to download the form. Hi Skaters, Please note the Malaysian leg of the Asianic Inline Cup, will go ahead in the spectacular Political Capital of Patrajaya on the 1st August. GOOD NEWS IS that the cost of living, is only half the price of Singapore & there are very few places in the World, where you can still purchase a McDonalds meal for around $2 USA Dollars, this is one of them, also accomodation is very cheap for those from outside of Malaysia. The beautifull city surrounding a Man Made Lake & Fantastic Buildings, is a must to see, Plus a true World class marathon Circuit, a test for everyone. SEE you all there, for this first off wonderfull event. Cheers Bill |

Hi Pete,
Yes some countries have unfortunately taken a harder line on the Flu Virus, China Cancelling Suzhou WIC & Easyhealth Singapore & Singapore Government the AIC Singapore. Unfortunately we could not do anything about it. But Malaysia on the 1st August will be a great event. Unfortunately we were hoping to build on the Euphoria created by the World Games in Chinese Taipei, but with Selection trials etc, an early august date was not possible.. Malaysia is a real Quality course, in the Capital Patrajaya with a tough element, hill primes & sprint primes. Would serve as a prime course for the World elite marathon skaters. It crosses the lovely bridge over the man made lake, the city was built around as the political capital. with lovely stuctures & wide roads. Cheers Bill

Top Skaters Line up AIC Malaysia
|
Hi Skaters, Well Patrajaya Malaysia will be the ASIANIC INLINE CUP race not to be missed, The current World overall track champion & 2 times World champion Nicole Begg will be present, hopefully fresh from World Games success. Eri Marina Yo the Indonesian 2009 Marathon Champion & overall leader of the AIC will be accompanied by Sylvia Setiawan the 2008 Indonesian Ladies champion, so great support for the ladies event, lets hope the other skaters take advantage of the opposition. Also great news Dimas Prasetya the Mens 2009 Indonesian Marathon champion will be present, he impressed both myself & the AIC marketing Manager Eddie Chua while we were in Indonesia, at their National Championships. In 2010 around end February, its hoped a series of around 3 AIC events will be held in Indonesia. On the Thursday 30th July, Bill & Nicole Begg will run a Coaching Clinic in Malaysia & are due to arrive in Singapore around the 21st July. We are very excited about the great Malaysian Venue on Patrajaya Boulevard & look forward to a programme of some great racing, with many of the AIC stars from overseas likely to be present & are looking forward to seeing all the regular competitors plus the new Malaysian Skaters. Unfortunately the 8th & 9th August there are trials in Chinese Taipei, so we can't hold an AIC event as we had hoped to. Cheers Bill

Hi Skaters,
Its great to see here in Patrajaya Malaysia, the cream of the Indonesian Womens marathon Skaters, Eri Marina Yo the current ladies leader, has proven to be a World class skater & althogh she fancies herself more as a sprinter, is the current Indonesian Champion for the Marathon. This Time Eri is backed up by Sylvia Setiawon the 2008 Indonesian Champion & the brilliant young 15 year old Della Olivia, who was 4th in this years Indonesian open Ladies championship, which was raced in 38 degees temperature, with 22 female starters, there will be another Indonesian lady take part in the 10km & also a female skater from Thailand, to add to the truely International Flavour, Margerwt Simms from Singapore will be another starter. So on this tough course the USA Globetrotting Nike employee Kim Aimes should be suited to the course & then they face up to Nicole Begg one of the Worlds best, but has not competed any road races, let alone a marathon for 4 months, but appears well recovered from her serious Injury. Hi Skaters,
I have just completed my Marathon this morning, signing a couple of hundred AIC Certificates, unfortunately the rubber stamp of my signiture never turnt up, the only satisfaction I have is the Eusoffe Chua the Malaysian AIC partner has to do the same. Well Dimas Prasetya from Indonesia, virtually site unseen outside of Indonesia, is a favourite for a podium finish, in 38 degree heat Dimas virtually lead 90% of the race at the Indonesian Marathon champs, with sprint primes along the way, a total sitter is prevented from claiming the glory, as was the case this year, when Dimas won the title. A very fit & tough skater, the two drag climbs over the bridge each lap & a real hillclimb for the turnaround, should suit Dimas, but he has two tough adversaries in Kim Bum Sik the Tiger from Korea & Diasuke Kazamaki from Japan, Daniel Chee Wee & Daryl Chang if he races, will also be in Contention, but two USA skaters John Mucho & Andrew are both fit & strong & can not be discounted, when the 42 km gets underway at around 5.20 pm this evening on Patrajaya Boulevard, with the start & Finish line outside the palace of Justice. Two Malaysian skaters will test themselves Steven Tan a Univerity Lecturer & skate Instuctor although a masters skater could contest a top 10 place on the tough course, Kevin Peterson a business manager & also skate Instuctor for Skateline the Malaysian organizing partners, will also compete. Its a race with a lot of interest, with World Class competitors & new comers also competing. Its hoped that Indonesia, Malaysia & Singapore can overcome Technical obstacles & be present at the Haining World Championships. Bill |

Hi Skaters,
The 1st October Asianic Inline cup event in Hong Kong is winding up for a good showing & with Prizemoney in Malaysia & Double the ammount in Hong Kong, things are starting to fall into place, at least skaters from 4 countries attending the Haining World champs, will drop into Hong Kong after the Worlds to compete in the event. Currently Nicole & myself are in Hong Kong & will check out the inner city course. One of the pities in Asia holding back speedskating is officials in positions, who do not step out of their comfort zones, to make the sport bigger & better, then cry Wolf when others do. On a brighter side the powerfull skating nation of Indonesia, who have never attended World Championships before, after many talks by AIC officials, are likely to have representatives competing in Haining. With the likes of Eri Marina You, who beat Nicole Begg in a straight line 500 meters recently, they have competitors capable of a good showing at the top level. Also currently Yo leads the Ladies AIC overall, not the worlds toughest competition, but close to a FIC standard. Cheers Bill |

2010 Time Frame Proposal AIC
|
Hi Skaters,
Here is a preliminary start off line up time span we are looking at for the " ASIANIC INLINE CUP ", we do not want to be Zig Zaging accross the World, so we are tryoing to go through the regions in the same area, like I say this is for starters. We were hoping to start off in Melbourne on the 23rd January & the Australian champs be a double up event, with one on the 24th in Timaru. But in order to try & support a good start if the Melbourne Australia event takes place, we will keep the Sunday the 24th open for them, so that overseas ones travelling to Timaru can come via Melbourne & pick up the event there & the "Tour of Timaru" South Canterbury on the Tuesday the 26th, Wednesday 27th, Thursday 28th & Saturday the 30th, with the AIC Marathon the 31st January in Timaru. We will try & hold two in the South Island in the first N.Z. stopover & two in the North Island on the return trip, at the end of the season. So some Inital preliminary Information, in what we are planning to be the biggest & the best Speed skating series offered to skaters. 1/ For the Asianic Inline Cup Overall, probably only your best 10 events will count. 2/ Then there will also be regional overalls. a) Oceania top - 5 events count with say 4 in Australia & 4 in N.Z. b) South East Asia - Something Similar with Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore & India etc. c) Nothern Asia - Taiwan, Hong Kong, China, Korea & Japan, note that for China, Korea & Taiwan we will target Bank track racing on the Saturday, exciting race series with say 500 meter races & 5,000 meters points races, both fast & exciting races. & road marathon on the Sunday. 3/ All events will have sprint prime bonus points & hill primes were possible, also the 500 meters sprint prior to the marathons, with also bonus points. 4/ If there is a double up weekend event, one must not be more than 30 km distance, ( Maybe Indonesia or New Zealand for Instance. ) 5/ There will be age grades & masters grades, dependant upon road closure time and Numbers, as to if seperate grades or some having to race together. 6/ In parts of Asia we have to be carefull to try & miss the typhoon season. ( So Below here is a rough example draft & we need to be finalizing details after the AIC executive members meet in Haining ) 7/ FIRS Secretary General & CIC president Roberto Marotta advised us in Shanghai our competition could operate along the same lines as the WIC, as it was all about promoting our sport to the greater World & Commercial interests are needed to back this up. 8/ Through the AIC umbrella & Sports Performance International company the Begg Coaching Academy will conduct High level Practicle Speed Acceditations, plus also specific instuctures courses, with Academy Bases in Timaru New Zealand, Singapore & China, its hoped that throughout Asia 1,000 to 2,000 coaches will gain this accreditation in the next 3 years & help our sport develope & grow & create career paths for coaches, with a creditable & Internationally recognized Practical Coaching Accreditation. That Auctually teaches Coaches to specifically coach our sport, up to International level. Through this Coaching Academy Accreditation, it is proposed that the CIC branch of FIRS will gain financial sponsership. 9/ At all AIC venues Coaching for Coaches & skaters will be held. Preliminary Approximate time Span allocation. January 24th - Melbourne Australia ( Proposal in Conjunction with the Australian National Marathon Championships.) " 31st - Timaru New Zealand ( possibly in Conjunction with New Zealand Marathon Championships. February 6/ 7th - Another South Island venue, possibly Blenheim Go Cart track ( used for Oceania champs a few years back.Bank track race Saturday. ) February 27/28 - Perth Australia also Bank track racing on the Saturday. March 6/7 - Indonesia " 13/14 - Indonesia. " 20/21 - Malaysia. " 27/28 - Singapore. April 3/4 - India. " 10/11 - India. " 17/18 - Hong Kong. " 24/25 - Taiwan. May 1/2 - Taiwan. " 8/9 - China. " 15/16 - China. " 22/23 - Korea. " 29/30 - Korea. June 5/6 - China. " 12/15 - China. " 19/20 - China " 26/27 - China. July 3/4 - Japan. " 10/11 - Korea. " 17/18 - Korea. " 24/25 - China. August 31/1 - China " 7/8 - China. " 14/15 - China " 22/23 - China Sept. 4/5 - Korea. " 11/12 - Korea. " 18/19 - Singapore / Malaysia Double up weekend. " 25/26 - India Oct 2/3 - India " 9/10 - Indonesia Double header weekend. " 16/17 - China. " 23/24 - China. " 30/31 - China Nov. 6/7 - China. " 13/14 - Hong Kong. " 20/21 - Brisbane or Gold Coast " 27/28 - Sydney Dec 4/5 - New Zealand Double header, Palmerston North, Wanganui, Upper Hutt or Hastings possibilities. We are not sure but next years worlds in Venezuela will be held in November sometime, so the preliminary dates for Australia could change, but not a problem if China held events during these dates. As you can see we are trying to cater for everyone & liven up our sport & introducing Internationals to race in Countries deprived of International competition. As there will be a large number of events, skaters will not be at them all, so thats why a limited ammount will count for AIC overall. Remember its only a preliminary time plan Schedule, on what we know at present, remembering we will have to work in with national championship dates in the various countries, so we do not clash. Cheers Bill |

Hey Bill..I have an idea to get some commercial sponsors on board.
Remember back in the day when after the Tour of Timaru we would race the following week down at the Tour of Dunedin. What Ross Gamble did was round up a bunch of local sponsors and make us wear their logo for those races. I have a great photo of Tony Keefe wearing a QANTAS logo on his chest and both Curt Labeda and Bobby Kaiser doing the same thing. so Hows about having "Local Sponsors" taking on a pro team for a small fee. Even if it is to just cover food and accomodation in the beginning, then it is still a start in getting outside sponsorhip and relieve a little financial pressure form the organization who can put that money into either better prizes or more advertising. I bet a business owner would bring a lot of his Mates down to see the racing to show off "his Team for the Day" that only cost him $500. just a thought over coffee this morning. Cheers Johnny |
