Watch how ineffective it is to engage T brake, V brake, at this tight steep turns..watch how nearly every pro skater go tumbling down.
A better safer and more effective option is to use a heelbrake. T brake is only effective for low speed and it is unstable at high speed.
Heelbrake has it advantage...
it doesn wear down your expensive wheels
it is very effective when you need to engage them in an instant
it can be done in very very tight turns
Most of us skate for leisure, fitness and fun. ..not really to be a world champion. So its important to pay safety issues first . Iam using
a semi race heelbrake that is light and yet fast enough. ..I know how to T brake, S brake, Jump brake...but I find the
heelbrake the most effective.
Many so called pro skater does not know how to use a heelbrake effectively. When use effectively, you could actually engage
a heelbrake until it smokes.
Watch the utube again and notice how LUCKY it is to use a knee/wrist guards. Without it, I am sure we had 20 cases of
broken bones in this competition alone.
Stay safe...dont try to be a Hero....Let others break their legs...for us we need to go to work tomorrow and continue
enjoying the sport.
If you are still unconvinced, please watch the video again and again. These downhill skaters are considered quite skillful and
if they could fall so easily, Im sure we too would had met the same fate.
After an accident its good if we can recover maybe in 3-4 months...but what happens if we never recover??..and
never enjoy this sport again ?
Even simple task like feeding ourselves would be a gigantic task when we have to rely on others.
or never walk again ? Its not something into the distant future...it can happen anytime if we pay safety issues last.
Nor matter how good you are , nor matter how expert you are...I can forsee one thing. ...you will have to fall...
oneday. ..and when you do, prevention is better than cure.
