Hi everyone,

I was reading some articles in patincarrera.com ( http://patincarrera.com/actualidad/2010/marzo_26_ven.html )and the i saw that the worlds in 2010 won't be at Venezuela .... So where is going to be now ?

Hi James,

Unfortunately so, due to Politics South American Style its a sad fact of life, that this is what happens, officials wanting money in the back pocket already cost a WIC event at late notice, now this one.

Well the Asian games are organized for Gaunzhou China 14th to 16th October in China, so a lot of Nations would be in China anyway, so that venue or a return to Haining, could be possibilities.

Taiwan have the Asian speed champs & held a very successfull World Games, they were dudded a couple of years back when politically they had to give away there champs to another country, perhaps they may gather support, but South America at such late notice a big risk allround.

Hi James,

Could well be the year of the Eagle, Joerg is on of the best skating organizors around & what a way to bless the new Geisengen Venue, with Jorg Jonny on the spot the organization would be first Class.

With good results at the Worlds, its time Germany were hosts, but will the Government or the Federation Back them up, whats more the Worlds number 1 Referee Big Barb is right there, also to ensure some efficiency & clear & correct decisions.

It could be the late call of the decade.

From a Kiwi perspective they would love it, half the team is based there anyway.

Hi All,

Now at such short notice where are they going to be, Forget the big extravaganza, we just need the best racing possible, two serious contendors are Chile & Geisengen Germany, at least they are showing an interest for our sport to survive.

Whoever they will have to move quick, do not be suprized if Taiwan also put there hand up.

I would'nt hurt to cut by half the distances to be raced...it would be shorter and cheaper, for the athletes and the organisers.

200m road - 300m track
500m road - 500m track
1k r - 1k t
10k r - 10k t
20k r - 15k t
42k r
3k relay r - 5k relay t

I know it helps our young athletes to find money and sponsors by saying '' I'm a world champ '' ...but I recall that the Olympic comite bid made by rollersports had the federation cuting the number of races by a few.

-why not sprint for the track and long for the road(makes a clear separation between the two types)
-or all on the track up to 15k and the 42k on the road ( good for organisers, as it becomes cheaper facility wise with only a track needed)
-or 300m,500m, 1k for the track & 200m, 15k, 42k for the road...3 individual medals in each, short and sweet.
-A true world champion status for the ''allround'' champion would be good as well...

I'm just saying it need a change, all this instability is not to for our inline sport reputation, at the same time, give our skaters some more recongition by making it harder to be a champion, Olympic hard.

are u sure with the dates of asian games in china from 14-16 October, because in wikipedia.org, it says it is from November 12-27, you said that asian speed championships in taiwan, do you know the dates, i tried to google search about it but with no luck, thanks in advance...

Hi Bj,

Well thats What I was told when we were sitting down with the coaches, to discuss the peaking cycles, but on checking my dairy I see I have a 12th to 27th November date for the Asian Games in Guangzhou China also, so I had better check up, on who told me otherwise & make sure they have it correct. So I think the dates may have been mixed up in the Interpretation, so its likely the speed will be the 14th, 15th & 16th November.

Now the Asian speed champs are in Kaohsiung Taiwan 17th to 26th July, this was the venue for the very successfull running of the World Games.

The World Body has sent a letter out & hopefully within two weeks the new venue will be declared, at this stage the arrangements with Chile appear to be well advance & could fit in with the same declared dates.

Here in Miami there are rumors that the incoming Marlin stadium (Marlin's ballpark) which is budgeted at an overwhelming half a billion dollars might actually ended up costing a full billion due to the corruption involved in the city with so many officials wanting money from under the table, you know for a city like Miami, that have taken the full brunt of the Rescession this is outrageous!

The fact WIC won't work on venezuela reminds me of how damn corrupted this world have become, how the hell will human civilization strive? When you are telling me that even the simple stuff like sporting events and stadiums have gotten that messy.

Am I the only one feeling disgusted at all this? Why can't Venezuelan people intervine so that the events are held there in a proper way, oh, I forgot, the country is not theirs anymore, it belongs to some damn cheap ass dictator who owns and runs everything.

Shame on all of us Hispanics.

South America, Chile the prime candidate, but Colombia also pushing for a look in. the latest I heard from South America 3 days ago.

Hi Jim,

Except we had the Worlds in Colombia 3 years ago, a bit unfair all around, thats why Chile will have first poke, they have not had it since 1999, Kalon Dobbin got his first ever World medal back then a bronze, having won more track Time trials on Inlines than any others, the thought of a possible final Worlds sprint lash out in Chile, to possibly round off a great sprinting career would be very interesting, not to say if he has lost a yard or two, that he might head back to the long distance, where he started his career.

Life's not fair. I heard that Chile did, as you said, have the first chance. But their recent earthquake apparently has meant that their national/local priority is repair of housing and infrastructure, with not enough resources left to host a quality skate meet. So, word on the street is that it's Chile's choice not to host us this year. Maybe Kalon can hang on until 2011?

The other side of the coin is that while there has been a tragic occurrance, events like a championships bring some bright lights to the people & Santiago was not the seriously hit area & private enterprise money would also be involved.

Hi Bill,
I heard at Gross Gerau it was "confirmed" for Medellin in Colombia...or was that just a rumour??...it wouldn't be the first time a bunch of skaters bored waiting between races had confirmed something that didn't turn out true haha
