Kalon is still waiting for those warm currents to come down from up north so we can have a feed of snapper, but just quietly if I can get hold of one of them when he finally catches one, I'd be keen to trade you for some white bait... Been hanging out for some white bait fritters since last white baiting season!

The whitebait have been a bit scarse this year, but I got a pound today, everyone gave up 3 hours before me & I was there to grab what little was around, it has not run but I have had about 4 1 pound lots. Cheers Bill |

Hi,
Young N.Z. senior skater, Reyon Kay,will try out on short track ice in the next few weeks. A good performerat top level, Reyon recently won the N.Z. mens marathon title. Nicole Begg was icluded in the training squad,for the ladies relay team or the 2006 Olympics, but with recovering from a long & hard International season, has not been able to join the programme at present. That would be legendary! there aint much white bait up here either, not good because we put the longline across the river mouth to get the kawhai that chase them in. Good luck to Rey and Nicole on the ice skating Pete |

Hey Bill,
Yes thats right i will be in Senior after Bank Tracks. The reason why i ain't skating is becuz we are going away on 17th November and we won't be back till December 20th. but we are going to Brisbane so i might catch up with some mates from Logan City. I will start training when we come back so i will at least try to skate in our Tour of Tokoroa 5-6th of February. and hopefully make B-T'z.Got to finish my last year of skating in Intermediate. Hi Tom,
What are you trying to tell us, that Nicole might be skating in the same colours as the B.W.S. could be. Only today there was another offer came through. I would be an interesting prospect if she was racing with Pia Knecht, as many consider she is the best women skater, in the wet & strong up the hills also, with Nicoles allround ability & speed, sounds like a team that could challenge the big World teams. But with all the Pro skaters, its not over till the ink is dry on any contract. Keep your eyes open ther may be an Official Bont announcement on this board, could be as early as today, then you will understand, the dry ink phase. Cheers Bill |

I went out Thursday to the Orari mouth, 3 meter rolling waves made it very treachorus & not a lot of Whitebait around, but I donated my days catch, a couple of patties each, for you & John Micheal, who Judith will deliver it to at todays speed meetting, hope you enjoy your taste, but at least the thought was there. Thanks heaps for that, i'll enjoy it! ... went out to Tangimoana yesterday and got the first big haul of the season, 1 dogg fish, 8 Red Cod and 2 Kawhai. so we have been doing some research on bait and what not coz we want to get into the snapper... will try have some at nationals! and just since this is a skating site... Training is going well here, Was really sick a few weeks ago and lost 7kilo's and alot of power so working hard in the hills and in the gym to get that back. Pete |

it's a bit of a bugger, but these things happen. At the moment I am mainly aiming to get some form back for nationals...
And while i'm here, funny story... Last night we went out for a fish and we could see the schools of kawhai jumping just past the breakers, so we set the long line out straight through it, but when we went to pull it in it was way too heavy for four guys (Kalon, Ben Alchin and Carlin Lepper) and me winding, to pull it in. We were really worried about breaking the line. But finally got it in to find we had snagged someones net. We got it in with 1 Kawhai on the long line and 40 kawhai, 1 Red Cod and hundreds of crabs in the net. so we cut out the live Kawhai and the crabs for bait then went home for a feed. Still havent hit those Snapper yet though. |

The speed King Tour will be held in Upper Hutt on the 4th & 5th of December, Argentina star Andrea Hartichelar currently in New Zealand, will be competing in the event. The event organized by N.Z. skating Stalwart Gordon Chamley, is popular being held 1 month prior, to the National road & indoor championships. Cheers Bill |

Rumor has it, a new face will take a stab at the Speed King Tour and NZ nationals, someone from another sport with just 1 year of skating.
Without any preconceptions , and no friend or enemies in the Kiwi skating world, this could prove to be something new for discussion-someone yet unknown and untried on the NZ skate scene. Does this skater have any experience, or any chance at all to not come in last place? I'm sworn to secrecy! Anyways it will be a 4 wheeled challanger, hoping to slip into the race without any expectations. Don't worry, be happy-NZ skating can always use another face!  |
