ATTENTION MARATHON SKATERS
This is a message for all speed skating enthusiasts. Have you ever wondered what if feels like to go speed skating on natural ice, on a lake, facing the elements and enjoying the great outdoors with hundreds of other skaters? If that sounds like fun to you, then have a look at the 3rd International Rideau Lake/North American Speed Skating Marathon and related events at www.portlandoutdoors.com. The races are on January 28 and 29, 2006.

The organizers of this event groom a 1-km oval on the largest lake in eastern Ontario, Canada, one hour away from the capital Ottawa, and only 45 minutes from the US border. In January 2005 nearly 1,500 spectators cheered
on 250 skaters during the course of one day.

Besides hosting the official 2006 North American Marathon SkatingChampionships 25 and 50K, which sanctioned by U.S. Speedskating and Speed Skating Canada, there
are shorter races such as the 5 and 10K and the Team Relay Race.

Skaters in the 25 and 50K races can earn points, which will go towards the overall 2005-2006 Marathon Skating International Points Series. For a full schedule of evens go to
