Posts: 2575 (06/25/08 01:13:33) Godzilla Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	A German family who like inline skating will invest US$2million to build the worlds best indoor inline speed skating banked track and outdoor 550m road course. The road course will be around a lake and it will have direct access to about 80 km of the finest bike and skate roads along the Donau river. The track will be in the town of Geisingen close to Lake Konstance. This region should boom as it is only 30 minutes to the now famous Weinfelden track in Switzerland. One of the most famous bike tours will go straight past the new track which is sure to attract new skaters. The track is also rumoured to have a camera mounted to the railing which can travel along side the skaters for videoing the races. The track is set for completion in 2009. alx

There is a lot of roumors going arround that it is not even confirmed that the worlds are taking place in Weinfelden 2009! Mr. Marotta will visit the facility in the near future to check how far they are with a street course and the hotel situation and many other things...! I guess Coni needs to do his homework to get it all approved! First of all it is theory and second there is always a lot of things that change quickly in our sport..! greetings joerg

They just want to make sure to build the arena in in the way so it is possible to host competions in a few years! I am not picking on Coni --> I just write my opinion here! This is the difference to most other people who are influenced by their sposors involved in the WIC! if you don't like it - do not read it Coni will call me - as he did before - if he has a problem with it.....! If I may add another questionable; that Weinfelden Track thing isn't that one off those bloody PARABOLIC HOMERS we supposed to be done with ... maybe this is indeed the right moment to readjust the 2009 options Joerg it isn't about goals for investors/business people it is about opportunities; Latin phrase "Ad praesens ova cras pullis sunt meliora" (Eggs today are better then chickens tomorrow) Joerg fired up now; stick to your Core and make that Engadin thing a Zepto win this weekend

I was wondering about the road coarse though....and news on that Bill? Surely not around Freunfeld....don't think they could get the finish line consistant as per cic rules,plus the army Tanks are a bit of a hazard eh! German track setup sounds good....probably have a few "internationals" based there in the future for the summer season. A little better cost of living too. johnny

Yes Soloman the Weinfelden vanue might be not fit and outdated to host the World Champioships at all; the parabolic homer track( what is it 5 meters wide ... 60+skaters on 110s ) in almost all technical aspects (from the probably 50 participating countries 40 have never skated on a track like that ... is that fair play); as well as the vicinity ...

FIRS Secretary General - Roberto Marotta - and I, we had a meeting that will offer the best input to the development of Mediterranean's Federations. As you know, Roller Sports will participate, for the first time, at the Mediterranean Games of Pescara 2009 with roller speed skating. Due to the importance of the event, it will represent a basic show for the promotion of our marvellous sport, not only within the Olympic Project, but for our future opportunities with media and spectators. On Friday June 27, together with FIRS Secretary General, I attended the Meeting of the Head of Missions - Pescara 2009 and we had the opportunity and the honour to present our sport to Sports Directors of NOCs of the Mediterranean countries. We showed the most important Mediterranean Sportsmen, one sport, our sport, that for its own kind is to be well fostered in nations with temperate weather and we dealt about FIRS Mediterranean Project with Angelo Lombardi (Technical Director of the Project) and other Sports Directors too. It is an ambitious and fruitful project that will lead us, starting from this year and all 2009 long, to work actively for the promotion of Roller Sports in the Mediterranean Area, with the aim to increase the spreading of our loved sport. FIRS will provide for free to Mediterranean nations, as for example Tunisia, Turkey, Morocco and Algeria, some coaches who will train skaters in view of the 2009 Games. At the same time, National Federations will be created in Mediterranean countries with the support of their own NOC, giving a further impulse to the development of active Federations, fully supported. I am sure you will understand that it is of main importance to increase numbers and quality of Roller Sports and this is the commitment of FIRS, Technical Committees and National Federations that must consider it as a priority, by focusing all efforts towards it, not only in view of the Olympic goal. We believe our sport may interest young people. We believe in it, being ecological and economic. We believe that, with the continuous commitment of all of us, our sport will grow even more and we shall be proud of the work we are carrying out.
